Born in 2004, Philippe Kristofic began studying the violin in 2011, at the age of seven, in Bartenheim with Justyna Grunenwald. At the age of twelve, he continued his training with Jan Sosinski at the Conservatoire de Saint-Louis.
In 2020, following a period of intensive study with violinist and pedagogue Emilie Haudenschild, he was admitted to the PreCollege programme at the Musik-Akademie Basel, Switzerland, where he studied with Hyunjong Reents-Kang.
In 2022, he was admitted to the Hochschule der Künste Bern, Switzerland, to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Violin in the classes of Bartłomiej Nizioł and Tianwa Yang, graduating in 2026. Alongside his violin studies, he began training in orchestral conducting with Maestro Florian Ziemen in 2023. In parallel, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology at Paris-Sorbonne University in 2024 through distance learning, following a French general baccalaureate. This dual course of study reflects both his rigorous commitment and his desire to combine artistic practice with a strong theoretical and historical understanding of music.
Since 2026, he has been pursuing a Master’s degree in Violin Pedagogy at the Hochschule der Künste Bern, studying with Bartłomiej Nizioł and Meret Lüthi. Under Meret Lüthi’s guidance, he is also developing his practice of Baroque violin and historically informed performance.
To further refine his violin playing, he has actively participated in masterclasses given by leading violinists such as Pavel Vernikov, Dong-Suk Kang, Ingolf Turban and Bartłomiej Nizioł. He has also attended masterclasses by Zakhar Bron as an auditor.
Philippe Kristofic is regularly invited to perform as both a violinist and violist, either as concertmaster or as an orchestral musician, with ensembles including the Camerata Fanny Mendelssohn, Orchestre Festival, Camerata Zagreb, the Freiburg Film Orchestra and Chorus, and the Berner Student*innen Orchester (BESTO).
As a conductor, he has worked with the North Czech Philharmonic as part of Maestro Norbert Baxa’s European Music Academy, the Berner Student*innen Orchester (BESTO), Sinfonietta Bern as a guest conductor, and the Pehlivanian Festival Orchestra during his participation in Maestro George Pehlivanian’s Professional Opera Academy.
