What is music theory and musicianship?

• Learn to read music and the different clefs
• Discover the different rhythms that make up music
• Develop basic singing skills to better internalise music
• Listen to musical works to discover repertoire, composers and performers
• Develop a solid understanding of music theory for a deeper understanding of the works studied
• Ear training: interval recognition, melodic dictation and other tools to become less dependent on the score
• Explore the connection between the evolution of musical language and the history of music

Who are the classes for?

• Children from the age of 7
• Beginners as well as students who have already taken music theory or musicianship classes
• Students wishing to complement their instrumental lessons or discover the fundamentals of music before learning an instrument
• No previous musical knowledge is required to begin
• Groups are formed, as far as possible, according to age, level and language

How are the classes organised?

• Small-group classes, allowing for personalised guidance for each student
• Different activities from one lesson to the other
• Individual work and group activities
• Content adapted to the level and needs of the group

Practical information

• Music theory and musicianship classes take place on Saturday mornings at my home in Blotzheim. The course schedule will be provided when you contact me.
• Classes last between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the number of students, in order to ensure personalised guidance for everyone.
• As the smooth running of the group depends on regular attendance from all participants, enrolment in the group music theory and musicianship classes requires a commitment for the full school year. Fees may be billed quarterly or annually. For more information about course fees, click here.
