Violin, Viola and Music Theory lessons

For me, it is essential to share our art not only with audiences as a performer, but also with students as a teacher.
Teaching the violin means passing on and preserving the long tradition of Western classical music, while providing guidance tailored to each student’s aspirations. Lessons thus become spaces for exchange, reflection and dialogue, enriching both teacher and student.
Any good teacher will tell you: to teach is to learn.

What does my teaching approach involve?
- Individual instrumental lessons tailored to each student’s goals

- Developing each student’s musical sensitivity Optional group music theory classes*: giving students the tools to better understand, appreciate and practise music through a lively approach combining listening, rhythm, singing, music reading and musical culture

*subject to a sufficient number of participants.
Requirements
- A violin or viola with a bow, in a size suited to the student
- As I do not have instruments available for hire, sale or loan, I work with Olivier Gary, a luthier in Mulhouse, who will be able to advise you better than anyone:
- A music stand
- A blank A4 manuscript notebook, which will serve as a notebook for written work, exercises and the student’s learning journal
- No prior knowledge of violin, viola or music theory is required Most importantly: plenty of motivation and a positive attitude 😁

*This tax benefit is available in France only and applies exclusively to lessons provided at the student’s home in France.
Under the French Services à la Personne scheme, eligible customers receive a 50% tax credit for lessons provided at their home. The “after tax credit” price therefore represents the final cost of the lesson after this tax benefit.
The immediate tax-credit advance service is currently being introduced. It will soon allow eligible customers in France to pay the reduced amount directly, without having to pay the full price and wait for the remaining 50% to be reimbursed. **The minimum lesson duration must be longer than the total return journey time between my home and the student’s home, based on navigation services such as Google Maps or Waze.
Group music theory classes:
To ensure the group runs smoothly, regular attendance from every student is essential. Enrolment in group music theory classes therefore requires a commitment for the full academic year. Fees may be paid either termly or annually. Lessons will last between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the number of students, so that each participant receives individual guidance.

Immediate Tax Credit Advance (Currently being introduced — available in France only)
The Immediate Tax Credit Advance is a free service provided by Urssaf and the French Directorate-General of Public Finances (DGFiP):
- You pay only 50% of the amount invoiced, provided that you are eligible.
- Use of this service is optional.
- When using it for the first time, you activate your account on the Urssaf platform.
- After each lesson, you receive a payment request, which you may approve or dispute within 48 hours.
- For any questions concerning your lessons, Philippe Kristofic remains your main point of contact.
